Tell us, who is Bloody Edith and who are the girls behind the brand?

Bloody Edith takes her name from Edith Head, the greatest cinema costume designer. During her long career, started in the Forties, she was nominated for 35 Academy Awards and won eight times – more Oscars than any other women ever. She was responsible for some of the best-known Hollywood fashion images of her day, with her costumes being worn by the most glamorous and famous actresses in films. Head’s influence on world fashion was massive. And now she inpires ‘Bloody Edith’ Style.

We are the two girls behind the brand: Laura Destefano and Concetta Assennato. We’ve met ten years ago in Rome at Fine Art Academy. We’ve studied and worked together as costume designer for Theatre. Then our passion for old music and vintage style brought us to the idea of a collection which build a bridge between old and new fashion.

How long have you been ‘Bloody Edith’?

It startet as a joke in 2008. Me and Concetta created some original clothes to enjoy one of the nicest Italien festival dedicated to the Forties and Fifties.: The Kustum Weekend in Florence. So we’ve enjoyed the event wearing our unique dresses and suits and it was a big success. The people asked where that items were from, where we had bought them. From that moment we understood that we had made something special, something that people would love to wear. So we immediately decided to follow the Edith Head’s principles of elegance to draw a collection which portray us and our fascinations.

What makes ‘Bloody Edith’ special like it is?

‘Bloody Edith’ doesn’t duplicate old fashion clothes, we don’t copy the items from the Forties or Fifties, but we create somthing new and original inspired by the past. Each year we develop a new collection  made of dresses, skirts, pin up’s shorts, sweater, jackets and high-waisted trousers like those dear to the divine Greta Garbo or Rita Hayworth, Jane Mansfield and Sofia Loren.

Each garment is designed and hand made by crossing a taste of the past to the advantage of a new head, without falling into a trite playback of rockabilly fashion. The ingredients of Bloody Edith’s talent is the passion and the skill that we put in mixing vintage items (buttons, buckles and other applications) to the fabrics and yarns, most original.

Where do you want to go with ‘Bloody Edith’?

‘Bloody Edith’ wants to restoring the womans’s pleasure for a unique piece and freeing trends imposed by the fashion market plagued by the type of mass-produced.

Thank you very much Laura. I’m very exiting to meet you at the Rockabilly Rave in England and to discover your collection!
